Workshop Flow
Introduction to the Enchanting World of Bees (1st Hour)
The workshop begins with an engaging presentation by Chara Mangana and Giorgos Athanasiadis, founders of Bee Naturalles. As scientists and organic beekeepers, they will share their journey, offering insights into the wonders of honeybee society, the role of bees in biodiversity, and the deep connection between honey and nature.
What You 'll Discover:
The Honeybee Society – The life cycle of bees, their organized hive structure, and the intelligence behind their cooperative survival. The Power of Pollination – How bees sustain ecosystems and food sources worldwide. Greek Biodiversity & Native Flora – How wild Greek landscapes influence the taste and quality of honey. The Science & Sustainability of Beekeeping – Ethical, organic beekeeping practices and how they support both bees and the environment.
Interactive Discussion
Participants reflect on their experiences with honey, pollination, and their connection to nature, setting the stage for the tasting ahead.
The Honey Tasting Experience & the Beneficial Gifts of the Hive (2 Hours)
Now, we step into the heart of the experience—a guided honey tasting, where each variety tells a story of Greek landscapes, wild flora, and centuries of beekeeping tradition.
Discovering Honey Like Never Before
Participants will explore: The Sensory Profile of Honey – How its taste, aroma, and texture evolve based on floral sources, climate, and geography. Rare & Exquisite Honey Varietals – Experience the singular, organic, and multi-awarded honey varieties of Bee Naturalles, each a testament to the purity of Greek wilderness. From the fragrant wild herbs and the spiced sweetness of fennel & anise, to the resinous depth of fir tree, the robust complexity of forest honey, and the velvety richness of heather— every spoonful unveils a new dimension of flavor, texture, and aromatic wonder.
The Blind Tasting Challenge – A Test of the Senses
Participants take part in a blind tasting experience, where they must: Identify floral notes, viscosity, and aftertastes without knowing the honey ’ s origin. Guess the botanical source—citrus blossom, chestnut, or wildflower? Describe texture and complexity—from light and floral to dark and caramelised. This turns honey tasting into an interactive discovery, heightening appreciation for its natural diversity.
The Honey Pairing Mystery Challenge – A Fun Sensory Game
Participants are given a covered tray with two mystery food items (e.g., graviera cheese, dried fruits, yogurt and other delis). How it works: They blindly pair the foods with different honeys and predict which will taste best. After tasting, they vote on the most surprising or best pairing.
The Honey Awards – Personalized Titles for Each Participant
As the tasting session concludes, each participant is given a personalized title based on their tasting preferences: "The Floral Connoisseur'' – For lovers of delicate, light honeys. "The Herbal Explorer'' – For those who enjoy bold, herbal honeys like thyme. "The Bold Adventurer'' – For fans of dark, intense honeys like chestnut. "The Zesty Alchemist" – For those drawn to bright, citrusy honey varieties.
The Sweet Takeaway – Your Own Golden Memory
The Honey Awards – Personalized Titles for Each Participant At the end of the workshop, participants create a unique and personalized keepsake to take home. Personalized Honey Jars – A Memory to Savor Each participant receives a small jar of premium raw honey, which they will personalize with their name, the workshop date, or a message reflecting their honey experience. A beautifully customized honey jar, filled with not just honey, but memories.
